Frank Bruno, born Franklin Roy Bruno on November 16, 1961, in Hammersmith, London, is a former British professional boxer and one of Britain’s most celebrated heavyweight fighters. Known for his powerful punches and charismatic personality, he competed from 1982 to 1996, achieving a record of 40 wins (38 by knockout) and 5 losses in 45 fights, with a 95% knockout-to-win ratio.

**Key Highlights**:
- **Career**: Turned pro in 1982, winning his first 21 fights by knockout. He challenged for the world heavyweight title multiple times, losing to Tim Witherspoon (1986), Mike Tyson (1989, 1996), and Lennox Lewis (1993). On September 2, 1995, he won the WBC heavyweight title by defeating Oliver McCall, becoming the third British boxer to claim a world heavyweight crown. He retired in 1996 after losing the title to Tyson.
- **Achievements**: Ranked among the top 10 heavyweights by BoxRec 12 times, peaking at No. 3 in 1984. Awarded an MBE in 1990 and inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2003.
- **Post-Boxing**: A media personality, appearing in films, TV shows, and pantomimes. He’s a mental health advocate, having been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2003. He founded the Frank Bruno Foundation to support mental health through non-contact boxing and speaks publicly about his experiences.
- **Personal Life**: Married Laura Mooney (1990–2001), with three children (Nicola, Rachel, Franklin), and has a daughter, Freya, with Yvonne Clydesdale. A grandfather of two, he lives in Glasgow as of recent reports.

Bruno’s resilience, humor, and advocacy have made him a beloved figure in British sports.
