Murillo has become one of the most exciting defenders Nottingham Forest supporters have seen in years: brave, stylish, explosive and full of personality. Signed from Corinthians in August 2023, the Brazilian centre-back arrived as a young talent with big potential, but he quickly proved he was ready for Premier League football. Forest announced him on a five-year deal, and within a short time he had become one of the club’s standout performers.

What makes Murillo so special is the mixture of qualities he brings. He is strong in the challenge, quick across the ground, calm under pressure and wonderfully confident carrying the ball out from defence. He plays with the swagger of a Brazilian footballer but also the heart of a proper Forest defender: throwing himself into blocks, reading danger and giving everything for the shirt.

His progress was recognised when he was named Forest’s Player of the Season for 2023-24, and in January 2025 he committed his future to the club by signing a new deal running until 2029.   That showed just how important he had become to Forest’s plans.

Then came another unforgettable moment at Anfield this season. On 22 November 2025, Murillo opened the scoring as Forest stunned Liverpool 3-0, helping secure a famous away win and back-to-back league victories at Anfield for the first time in 62 years.
