James McAtee represents an exciting blend of youthful ambition, technical brilliance and attacking creativity at Nottingham Forest. The gifted English midfielder arrived at the City Ground with an impressive footballing education, a growing reputation and the determination to establish himself as an influential figure in the Garibaldi red.

Born in Salford, McAtee developed through Manchester City's celebrated academy, where his exceptional close control, intelligent movement and eye for goal quickly marked him out as a special talent. His performances earned him senior opportunities under Pep Guardiola, while two productive loan spells at Sheffield United demonstrated his ability to thrive in the demanding environment of English league football.

During his time at Manchester City, McAtee gained valuable experience alongside some of the world's finest players, developing the technical ability and tactical awareness that make him such an exciting prospect. His impressive displays for England's Under-21 side further underlined his potential, helping the Young Lions secure European Championship glory in 2025.

Since joining Nottingham Forest in August 2025, McAtee has continued to develop his game, gaining valuable Premier League and European experience in the Garibaldi. His first season included appearances during Forest's Europa League campaign, while the opening months of 2026/27 have seen him establish a more prominent role in the starting eleven.

Blessed with a wonderfully cultured left foot, McAtee combines quick thinking, clever passing and an ability to find space in crowded midfield areas. His creativity and willingness to take responsibility in possession give Forest another exciting attacking option, while his growing tactical maturity makes him increasingly valuable in different midfield roles.

For Forest supporters, McAtee represents both the present and the future. His Manchester City education, international success and developing Premier League experience provide an impressive foundation, but it is the opportunity to establish himself at the City Ground that makes the next chapter of his career particularly exciting.

Creative, technically gifted and full of potential, James McAtee has the talent and determination to become a major figure in Nottingham Forest's future — and another player for the City Ground faithful to take to their hearts.
