The most iconic football song? There's only one other contender which I'm also partial to but take into account the video and John Barne's rap too... then it has to be New Order's 'World In Motion' all the way. Lucky enough to meet John this year and he gave our design the thumbs up. I had intended to release it in good time before the 2022 tournament kicked off but I forgot about it. No song this time. The most weird tournament of all time and England start with a 6-2 win. Argentina lose to Saudi Arabia... How will it end?

John Barnes is a former professional footballer and England international, celebrated as one of the most gifted and influential wingers of his generation. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1963, Barnes moved to England as a child and began his professional career with Watford, where his flair, creativity, and pace quickly caught national attention.

In 1987, Barnes joined Liverpool, where he enjoyed the most successful spell of his career. As part of Kenny Dalglish’s celebrated Liverpool side, Barnes was instrumental in winning two league titles, an FA Cup, and several other honours. Renowned for his dribbling ability, vision, and composure on the ball, he became a defining figure of late-1980s English football — a player capable of changing games with individual brilliance.

Barnes also earned 79 caps for England, scoring 11 goals and representing his country at two World Cups and two European Championships. His international career included memorable moments, notably his famous solo goal against Brazil at the Maracanã in 1984.

Beyond his playing days, Barnes has remained a respected voice in football as a coach, pundit, and advocate for equality and diversity within the game.

John Barnes embodies skill, intelligence, and artistry on the football pitch. His legacy at Liverpool and his influence on English football extend beyond trophies — he helped redefine what a modern winger could be and inspired generations of players to follow.
