Michael Manciene

Forest fans old enough to have seen Des Walker play have a measure to judge any that follow against. For me Mance is the only centre half since Des retired who gets into that category just below the very best. Although it's a mystery, it's certainly Forest's gain that he hasn't played his entire career in the Premier League. He probably suffers at this level by being targeted for long balls as an obvious tactic to exploit his lack of height. His talent really deserves a higher stage where his skills can tackle more sophisticated threats. Nevertheless he usually manages to survive the aerial assaults with a degree of composure and display his ability to read the game and make interceptions with almost telepathic regularity. He took a pay cut to stay with us too. Hopefully Forest can take him where he belongs before too long.
